Another one bites the dust! Brazilian born designer and (now former) Calvin Klein Collection Creative Director, Francisco Costa, has left the label after confirmation of the departure was announced yesterday.

The world of fashion according to designers has seemed to somewhat descend into turmoil lately as yet another steps down from their respective label.

Added to the news, the men’s Creative Director, Italo Zucchelli, has also left which is said to be a ”global evolution” for the brand. Both designers had worked with Calvin Klein himself for the brand before they took their helm in ’03 and ’04.
“This creative strategy marks the beginning of another significant chapter in Calvin Klein’s brand legacy since Mr Klein’s retirement,” Steve Shiffman, CEO of Calvin Klein, Inc. said today. “I would like to thank Francisco and Italo for their unwavering commitment to the Calvin Klein brand and their accomplishments over the past decade. They have both contributed immensely to making Calvin Klein a global leader in the fashion industry, and they have done so with dedication, focus and creativity.”
When Raf Simons departed Christian Dior last October, rumours were rife that he would be highly tipped to take on such roles like the now vacant one at Calvin Klein. Citing the lack of creative freedom at Dior for his move, it’s believed he ticks all the boxes for the CK position as Simons has worked within the divisions that the Calvin Klein Collection holds. An exciting era will emerge for the label when a new Creative Director is appointed; both Klein & Costa made remarkable strides with their executed vision for the brand.
For the time being, the industry keeps a watchful eye.
