Karl Lagerfeld pulls no punches in putting on show stopping runway shows for Chanel. Their couture show for Fall 2016 was held in Paris Tuesday morning.

”If you’re confident and you love yourself then everything you see will start to change;” recently announced ambassador for Chanel, Willow Smith whom features in the A/W16 eyewear campaign, took to the front row with her famous father, Will Smith, and actress Jessica Chastain as the Grand Palais in Paris was transformed into a spectacular atelier showcasing this year’s Autumn couture for the French brand.
The couture shows portray the creme de la creme of talent within the company and the exquisite fabrics that are composite of the finished product. The set for the show contained a transformed hall of the Chanel atelier as seamstresses continued to work their magic and prepare the models for the runway, in full view of the attendees and media. As they were ready to walk the walk, models emerged from their fittings with the fashion house’s couture seamstress in their freshly perfected outfits, some of which can be seen below.
As with a lot of Chanel’s shows, there were a couple of reoccurring themes within the showcase. Most of the well known faces who graced the catwalk e.g. Edie Campbell were armed with black gauntlets (an olden extended glove) and thigh high boots with kitten heels (yay to this!) were order of the day as the chosen footwear. Shearling, which features a lot throughout Chanel’s couture and RTW history, collars were placed on a few models which was said to have mimicked their back-brushed curly hair, completed with black bow headbands, entirely created by the esteemed hair stylist, Sam McKnight.
A gracious Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel’s Creative Director, fought off rumours of retirement and showed no signs of slowing down as he closed the spectacular finale taking a bow arm in arm with the seamstresses (pictured above) that had certainly put in a fair day of work at the show.
Growing in popularity, Haute Couture Week in Paris officially concludes on Thursday, 7th of July, with Louis Vuitton’s Joaillerie (jewellery) expose.
