Stella McCartney has been making huge strides in the world of womenswear and her sportswear partnership with Adidas. Now, she’s diving into menswear. ”It feels like the right moment,” she says.

According to WWD, rumours had been rife for some months that Stella McCartney was ready to conquer menswear and now those rumours have been confirmed by her fashion house. The first collection from the new label will be shown this November 10th at a showcase in London, with her pre-autumn/winter 2017 womenswear collection. It’s also assumed from the brands statement that the menswear pieces will be sold on a ‘see now, buy now’ basis meaning one will be able to purchase an item after it has flaunted the runway.

McCartney is a vegetarian and a well-known advocate for animal rights and sustainability which was portrayed in the official statement from the brand, in relation to her menswear collection. According to the brand, it will include:

”fur-free and leather-free apparel and accessories” (entirely similar to her current labels) and ”will take a modern approach to menswear, encouraging seasonless wardrobing, while adhering to the brand’s responsible and sustainable ethics.”

Stella McCartney launched her eponymous womenswear label back in 2001, her long-standing collaboration with Adidas following on from that in 2004 and her critically acclaimed childrenswear line in 2010. She has also designed the British Olympic kit since her appointment as Creative Director to the team in 2010.
